May’s Theme is
Intuitive Home Cooking
This month’s theme is Intuitive Home Cooking, but what exactly does that even mean? Scratch cooking can seem overwhelming, it’s no longer something we have all grown up around with knowledge passed down from generation to generation. There are some skills that we can research and relearn, but what if we could also teach ourselves how to cook intuitively? If we didn’t need a recipe or a YouTube video, but instead we had a basic understanding of cooking so we can let our creativity loose in the kitchen and really find our own rhythm. This is my goal and my mission to share as I go. Join me for the month of May while I discuss intuitive home cooking. On the podcast, in my videos on Instagram and YouTube and in the membership. If you’re not yet a member, you can learn more here www.greenerpostures.com/membership.

Book Recommendation
I love cookbooks. I can’t get enough of them. Over the years the types of cookbooks that I find entertaining and useful have changed quite a bit. No more Weight Watchers cookbooks, or Make It In Minutes types. Now my bookshelf is adorned with real food cookbooks and books on canning, fermentation, cheesemaking, sourdough and ancestral nutrition. I love cookbooks for more than just the recipes. I LOVE really great food photography in my books. I also love them for the inspiration they bring. It’s rare that I actually follow a recipe, to me it’s more like a gentle suggestion or an idea than literal directions. Here are a few inspiring books that keep me coming back time and time again. The Greener Postures Podcast
This month the podcast episodes are all about Intuitive Home Cooking. Learning scratch cooking doesn’t have to be super complicated, hard or scary. I will share with you how I got started and where I am now. I’ll talk about freestyle cooking, avoiding kitchen boredom, how I stay away from takeout on busy nights and where I find inspiration.
I also have some special guests scheduled to record about more homesteading topics! Check out the podcast feed for these episodes later this month.
Be sure to subscribe to The Greener Postures Podcast on Apple, Google, Spotify or Anchor. If you would like to listen elsewhere, just copy this RSS feed and paste it into your favorite player: https://anchor.fm/s/bf433928/podcast/rss

Featured Video
Have you checked out the Preserving Today YouTube Channel lately? This month in honor of the Intuitive Home Cooking theme, I want to feature a video I did showing how I make potato leek soup. This is a great example of how I work in the kitchen. Working with what I have and what needs to be used up first. Gathering ingredients and putting them to use! I hope you enjoy it.
What’s Next?

Can you guess what my favorite discussion topic of all time is? If you guessed fermentation you would be correct! I am so excited to talk NONSTOP about FERMENTED VEGGIES for the entire month of June! I will be hosting both an in person and an online workshop Fermentation for Food Preservation. I will be announcing the dates soon. If you are a “Do The Thing” level in the membership, attendance to the online workshop is included in the membership cost. If not, you can still sign up and the cost is $40. I will be sending out more info on that workshops soon!
