What We’ve Been Up To
August was a whirlwind. We packed all the summer fun we could into this one month. A trip to the local waterslides, the county fair and a much needed road trip to the Oregon coast. It felt like we’ve been going a million miles an hour then suddenly the weather turned and it started to feel like fall.
This was the best, or the only, family photo that we got through all of our August shenanigans. Not great, but a wonderful memory of how expensive the rides are at the fair.
I’ve been fermenting more cucumbers than we can handle. Dill pickles are delicious. Cabbage is all put up as kraut and I’ve been experimenting with new ways of preserving our apples, peas and corn. I sure hope the weather holds out enough that we get some of these tomatoes to turn red!

New logo, who dis?
I’ve been working on a very exciting project and I’m feel super creative and inspired. I hope to soon have more online resources for people who want to learn to do more for themselves. With the new workload of creating this project, I will be taking a break from hosting live online workshops until further notice. If you missed out before, all the online workshops are available as replays. You can still purchase the replay by following that link.
September’s Theme is Pantry Management!

September’s theme is Pantry Management. On the Greener Postures Podcast, on Instagram and the extra content I put out on YouTube for members will all managing a good working pantry. This ties in beautifully with last month’s theme of Preserving the Harvest. You can’t have one without the other. I’ve been focusing on cleaning out and organizing our freezers in preparation of the half steer we have on order for processing in late October. Not to mention all the other things that end up there. Our shelves of canned goods are being inventoried and organized with new items being added daily.
The Greener Postures Podcast
This month the podcast episodes are all about preserving the harvest. My first episode of the months is always a homestead update, but the following 3 Monday’s in August I will cover how I’m preserving and planning to preserve all that is in season.
I had a few special episodes out in July. Talking with Adam & Emily of Rising Tide Homestead was an excellent chat with my good friends talking about going from a tiny apartment in San Francisco to a five acre homestead with tons of animals is just 5 years. I also talked with my friend Abbie Sterk about Homemaking and Mothering. It was an excellent conversation, the first of hopefully many.

What’s Next?

October I’ll be covering bone broth. This may be the single most important ingredient that I craft from scratch. This is the foundation of so many of my nourishing recipes. As much as I love spring and summer and the growing season, the fall is always welcomes with a big cup of broth on a foggy morning.
Keep your eye on my instagram page for any announcements for a live online bone broth workshop in October.
